It had been a long time since I had seen a really good sunset. Scouring the map I searched for a new location. I knew I wanted to go somewhere I had never been before. There is so much to see in this world, it is hard to always be there at the right time. Every once and awhile I get lucky. This was one of those nights.

Four years ago this is where it all began. Sunsets and figuring out who I am and why I'm here. There is a specific sunset that I had seen that changed my life forever. With the anniversary approaching it was as if I had a calling to capture something epic.

Searching the map I found a bridge that had a view on Mead Lake in Clark County, Wisconsin near Greenwood. I knew this was going to be my spot. I had a vision very similar to what I captured, although I had no idea if I was even going to get the opportunity to see what I had in mind.

I set out anyways, in search of adventure and the comfort of nature. Turning onto Bachelor Road I found the bridge I was looking for. Standing on the bridge with the river flowing into the lake below me I knew this was it. I set up my gear and waited. Sunset began to approach and the sky grew grey. Experience and something deeply rooted in me told me to stay and be patient.

All of a sudden the grey clouds began to glow pink, as the horizon came to life burning with the warm fading rays of the day. I couldn't believe the intensity of the color and the texture of the sky. The sky was set on fire and began to be reflected on the surface of the water, setting Mead Lake on fire. Emotions rushed, goosebumps took over as I pressed the shutter. I knew I had captured what I live for, those few seconds in time that just give you such a high. Looking at this shot I hope this sunset sets a fire in your soul, like it did with me and the surface of Mead Lake.
