Heading to the Porcupine Mountains in Upper Michigan I sought out a location called Lake Of The Clouds. I've heard stories of this place. A place that is just epic beyond words. I had to witness this place for myself.

Waking up early before sunrise I made my way to the overlook at Lake Of The Clouds. It was dark and cold. With just a hint of a glow over the horizon I turned on my flashlight and made my way along the cliffs until I found this location. It had such an epic feel to it I knew this is where I wanted to set up.

The lake stretching out into the distance where the sun began to rise. At the other end of the lake the Carp River snaked between the bluffs pouring into the far end of the lake. Clouds began to build above the river as they traveled down the corridor until they were over the far end of the lake.

As the sun began to rise higher in the sky the lake began to steam with the warm rays of the sun casting its warm glow across the entire scene. As I began to frame up my shot a cloud began to form in front of the cliff I was standing on. Watching it catch the warm rays of the rising sun was such an incredible experience. This place is truly magical. Pressing the shutter I felt I captured the reason why they call this place Lake Of The Clouds.
